March 2018 and Q1: BMW Group celebrates new sales records

The March 2018 has brought the BMW Group’s new sales record: on the one Hand, the March 2018 was not only the most successful March of all time, but the world’s most successful single month in the over a hundred year history of the company. On the other hand, also the 1. Quarter of 2018, with the best value, never before could be after three months, the mark of 600,000 vehicles sold will be skipped.

In the previous year, established a global sales record for a single month in March 2018 by 0.5 percent to 256.162 units. The core BMW brand stands for 213.701 vehicles sold, and 0.8 percent over the same month last year, MINI was 42.126 0.7 percent year-on-year. For the 1. Quarter of 2018, results in an increase of 38.3 percent on 26.858 vehicles from BMW i, BMW iPerformance and MINI Electric. The BMW Group reaffirms in this context its objective to sell in the year 2018, the worldwide total of at least 140,000 vehicles with an electrical powertrain.

When looking at the regions, the managers of the BMW Group can look forward to Q1 2018, with a slight growth in all three major sales regions. So, sales in Europe increased by 1.0 per cent, in America by 4.0 per cent and in Asia to 6.3 percent. The largest individual market remains China, where around a quarter of all vehicles of the BMW Group will be sold. The other places of the USA, Germany and the UK.

Pieter Nota (member of the Board of management of BMW AG, responsible for sales and brand BMW): “in The first quarter, scored record sales, I believe, is only the beginning of another successful year, in which the effect of our current model offensive is in the further course of the year visible.
All main sales regions achieved in the first quarter of growth, despite the continued difficult conditions in some key markets. We are also pleased about the increasing worldwide customer demand for our electrified vehicles, whose sales increased in this rapidly growing field in the first three months of the year by 38.3%.”

Peter Schwarzenbauer (member of the Board of management of BMW AG, responsible for MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad): “the MINI has shown once more in the first quarter of the year strong growth and in the Wake of the launch of the revised MINI or MINI convertible in March, we expect to see in the course of the year, rising pulses. From now on, our customers look forward to a further improved product offering in the MINI-core models, which are, taken together, account for almost two-thirds of the MINI Brand’s sales.”
