BTCC 2018: title hat-Trick for BMW’s Colin Turkington

Colin Turkington and BMW may car on all three titles in the British touring championship BTCC in 2018 to look forward to. At the wheel of his BMW 125i M Sport, Colin was Turkington the following points clear to the most successful driver of the season, what he had mainly due to its constancy: Although he was only able to win one of 30 race, gained no more points.

To win instead, and risking perhaps too much, took Turkington prefer a Podium to the other, and collected a lot of points. In total, he drove in the first 27 races, 11 Times on the Podium and could, therefore, go with a commanding 34-point lead in the final weekend in Brands Hatch. Here Turkington was not able to retract, although not a Top ranking, it was after strong preparatory work in the earlier race, but also necessary.

The great balance of the series knows virtually no series winner, is mainly due to the sharp weight Balance. Once a driver is successful, he will be thwarted with extra-weight and very effectively prevented from celebrating further successes. At the same time, it made the pursuers easier, in turn, good results. In Qualifying and in the first race, Colin Turkington had to start with 57 kilograms of extra weight, so he had more 18 kilograms on Board than his closest rival Tom Ingram.

After three races at Brands Hatch, the 34-point lead had shrunk to 12 points, Turkington was already before the last race as the new champion of the BTCC. For Turkington, the third driver, it was already a title in the highly competitive British touring series.

A further reason for joy to have a look in the manufacturer for the rating, because, here too, BMW was able to celebrate with 830 points, a clear victory, and against Honda, Vauxhall and Subaru prevail. Is completed the title hat-Trick of Triumph in the team standings, the Team BMW with Colin Turkington and Ricky Collard was able to retract.
